The writer has the copy of the prayer which Charlemagne carried into battle against the infidels; he plans to present it to Charles V, but will offer a transcript of it to Gonzaga who will thereby be insured of victory; he had dedicated to Gonzaga his account of the military activities of the French in Italy; he asks for funds.
